Once upon a time…
A Goddess was born. And that Goddess is me. I woke and walked into this world, able to See and dance on moonbeams and dreams.
This is an excerpt from Book #3 of my Fantasy Series. Here is Book #1, Dolor and Shadow.
Kallan walked into the palace, her gowns glided upon the floor. The empty room glistened in the moonlight. Marble and pillars like mirrors. The throne, empty upon the dias.
“She’s ready anytime you desire it.”
Kallan’s back straightened, but she kept her eyes fixed on the throne.
“You offer me a realm. You tell me what I am. You show me a world I hadn’t dare dream. And you expect me to just trust you?”
“You were taken from us. You were born to us. You belong to us.”
“You killed my mother. You killed my…”
“Kallan… Feanna.”
Kallan cringed at the name.
“I can’t see the Truth. I can’t… process any of this… It’s too much. You took away my home. My family. My kin. My clan. And then you ask for my trust.
“I was supposed to take down your kingdom. I was…”
“This kingdom… My kingdom… It is not mine, Feanna. It is yours. You were a Goddess, disguised as a child. And trained as a witch. Witch? Barely begins to describe your power. And the only thing keeping that power from you now is your own belief that you are a Mortal.
“What life did you expect to have from a Goddess who believes they are Mortal? The thing is… what harm, what crime would you have committed if you dared to believe, even just for a moment, that you were a God?”
“A Changeling…” The word caught in Kallan’s throat. “You want me to believe that I am a Changeling? That Gudrun…”
“You are not a prisoner here, Feanna. You are free. If it’s answers you seek, then go. Seek them. Your throne, your kingdom… will wait.”
“Where is Rune?”
