Death Note : The Course
About Lesson

I just got to the part when Ryuk dropped the book on purpose.

My daughter (16) immediately wanted to know, “What Perspective is he (Light)!?”

“I don’t know,” I said.

She looked at me.

It’s the first time I couldn’t tell.

“3rd?” I thought, but no. This is something else. “5th?” No.

And then it dawned on me. “Oh my god! He is an Unethical!”

My blood went cold.

Unethicals are Criminals. The REAL Criminals. They are the ones in the 5th Level of the Subconscious Mind. They are the ones who “Check out” from Humanity. They quit the Ethics.

And then I realized.

An Unethical + Power vs. L…

I giggled…

L = Logic.

Oh… I’m doing a course on THIS!

But this contains a “red herring.” This is an Unethical who preys on other Unethicals. Only… Most criminals are not Unethicals.

Most Criminals are the Ethics who got lost. Most Criminals are just hurt, lost, confused, and hopeless.

Unethicals… are the real danger.

The question is, did the Death Note make Light this way? Or was Light always this way?

Yep “I want the world to know about me.” Yes. Light is a Serial Killer. Wants to be acknowledged for his mind.

It feels like… he wanted an excuse to use the Power.

He viewed killing the criminals as a way to change the world. Hm. I view Ethical Criminals as needed a second and third and multiple chances. They need to be taught. They need to learn.

Here’s Not Here, The Walking Dead.

Another Symptom Addresser. He’s bailing water and not patching the boat. So long as you ignore the hole, you always will have water to bail.
