Sunday In The Park With George by Stephen Sondheim. How can we discuss Georges Seurat and not talk about Sondheim?
This… We need to talk about Seurat. Seurat was the “Pixel” Painting. He hand painted every dot (pixel) with Primary colors only.
Fun Science Fact : Purple does not exist. The color Purple — according to Physics — does not Exist. It is the color our brain “creates” when it sees “Not Green.”
Purple is the Dichotomy of Green.
Seurat painted blue dots and red dots together to get purple. He painted yellow dots with blue dots to get green.
I strongly recommend Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday IN The Park With George with Bernadette Peters and Mandy Patinkin. It takes this painting and the Artist’s work to an entirely different level, with Sondheim’s Harmonic Dissonance of Atonality to symbolize the Abstract of Seurat’s work.
Breathtaking.
