I wish someone had said this to me on Day #1.
“Do yourself a favor, Anna. If you won’t do it — and I mean happily, religiously, and joyously — then don’t build it.”
So I am saying it to you. This was my biggest regret.
I kept trying to build things that I thought other people would love, but ultimately, I hated and would never do.
I wasted so much of my time and resources building stuff that I would never do.
Every single time, and without fail, I gave it up and said, “No. I just hate doing it. It makes me miserable. It does not give me joy. I will not do it.”
And I shut it down.
Every. Time.
Right yourself up a list.
“DFY” vs. “DIY”
And if you WON’T do it, but you have to, then add it to the DFY.
Only build what your will DIY. The DFY, only build that when you have the Resources to hire someone to do it for you.
NO MATTER WHAT.
Learn how to live under your means and with the Resources you do have. Never budge from this. Forcing yourself to build what you will never do just wastes the Resources you do have.
Be honest and naked with yourself about what you will do and what you won’t do.
